Obituary of Theresa C. Martire
Theresa C. Pauciello Martire, age 83, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 20, 2023 with her loving family by her side after a courageous 15 year fight. She was the beloved wife of 58 years to Matteo Martire. Born in Bridgeport on July 23, 1940, she was a daughter of the late Espedito and Theresa (Capasso) Pauciello and was a longtime resident of Monroe.
Theresa graduated from Harding High School and the Butler Business School and went on to work at L.P. McAdams for many years before her retirement. She was proud of her Italian Heritage and was a great cook who spent many Sundays making gravy for the weekly family dinner. She enjoyed trips to the casino with her husband, but her greatest joy came from spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and cherished great granddaughters. She will be missed but her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides on the 3rd floor at Newtown Health and Rehab for their compassionate care.
In addition to her beloved husband Matteo, survivors include her three loving children, Paul Martire (Lisa), Theresa Diamond (Robert) and Marie Clark (Donald), her twin sister, Florinda Checca (Rudy), eight grandchildren, Michael (Megan), Tina (Stephen), 1st LT, U.S.A.F., Matteo Diamond (Julia), Lea (Andrew), James, Nikayla (Darius), Ava and Dominic, five cherished great granddaughters, Mariah, Serenity, Emma, Layla and Rory, two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Pauciello and Theresa Benedetto and a special nephew, Dylan Lewis as well as many other nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Carmine Pauciello, two nieces, Lynda Lewis and Janet France and a brother-in-law, Gennaro Martire and his wife Candy.
All are invited to meet on Friday, August 25, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
