Obituary of Richard Booth Beach
Resident of Stratford
Richard Booth Beach, age 100, of Stratford, died at home with his family around him on Sunday, January 29, 2012. He was pre-deceased by his loving wife, Georgia Eisenman Beach. Richards ancestors were among the first settlers of Stratford arriving on the ship, The Planter in 1639. He graduated from Colorado College in 1934. He was a purchasing agent for a number of area companies. Richard led an active life after retirement. He and his wife traveled extensively, crisscrossing the country to attend square dance events, visit relatives and enjoy our national parks. He was active in the Baldwin Senior Center for many years where he initiated a stamp club and square and round dance classes, an activity he continued well into his nineties. Richard served as a counselor for tax help for seniors as well as numerous volunteer duties. He drove for the Stratford Red Cross. Richard led his family in involvement in Scouting, founding Cub Scout Pack 177 and Troop 177 at Putney and Chapel Street Schools where his son is still active. Besides stamp collecting, square and round dancing, other activities Richard enjoyed included rooting for the UCONN womens basketball team and gardening. Richard was pre-deceased by his sister, Eleanor Beach Cook and his brother, John Russell Beach. He is survived by Richard A. and Mary Beth Beach of Lakewood, CO, Gordon R. Beach of Stratford, Dr. Robert L. Beach and Carole Hoskins of Manlius, NY and Barbara and Deacon Ron Landry of Trumbull. He is also survived by grandchildren, Richard W. Beach and Camille Wall of Boulder, CO, Kimberley and Jon Anderson of Arvada, CO, Katherine Landry of Trumbull, Alex and Nicholas Beach of Manlius, NY and great grandchildren, Kylie and Sydni Anderson. He will be greatly missed by Dorothy Lindberg of Shelton, his long-time dance partner. His family would like to thank his loving caregivers, Samuel Annin and Christopher Foreman. Funeral Information
Family and friends are invited to say goodbye on Sunday, February 5, 2012 at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull where calling hours will be from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 3:00 p.m. Interment will be in the springtime in Trumbull Center Burial Grounds.
