Obituary of Dontrel Morgan Flathers

It is with great sadness that the family of Dontrel Morgan Flathers announces his sudden passing on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 at the age of 28 in San Diego, California. 

He will be lovingly remembered by his devoted partner, Patricia Luna; his parents, George and Donna Flathers; his grandmother, Margaret Stark; his abundance of siblings, their partners and children: Tamsyn, Mathis, Miles, Elliot and Tessie Ambler; Travis and Jacqueline Austin; Matthew, Diana and Thomas Flathers; Sarah Flathers, Jay Cross and Addie Keohan; Steven Flathers; Terrance, Terrance Jr, and Crysette Austin; Torrence Austin; Michael, Audrey, Eowyn, Michael Jr, and Gideon Flathers; Iesha, Trinity and Elyaus Grossett; Missy Flathers, as well as many other relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his mother, Melissa Morgan and his beloved childhood pets, Belle the chihuahua and Catcher the calico cat.

Dontrel was born on June 9, 1995 in Bridgeport, CT. Dontrel graduated from Stratford High School where he played football and ran track. After high school, he joined the brewing team at Athletic Brewing Company. In 2021, he co-created “Soul Sour”, a Blueberry Lemon Mango (to represent Black Lives Matter) sour brew in honor of Black History Month, and to celebrate the community and beauty of Black culture. He supported their expansion to San Diego, California, where he had been living for several years at the time of his death.

Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, September 8th from 4:00-7:00pm at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. A Celebration of Life Program will begin at 6:00pm.
