Obituary of Maria Julieta Cabral

Maria Julieta (Martins) Cabral, age 86, of Newtown, beloved wife of the late Jacinto R. Cabral, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 6, 2023 surrounded by her family. Born in São Miguel Açores Portugal on September 10, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Joao Pereria Martins and Norbina (de Aguiar) Martins. Maria enjoyed cooking for others and was especially known for her sweetbread. She was also quite talented in the craft of crocheting, needlepoint and as a seamstress. Spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest enjoyment and being surrounded by her family. A loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend of many. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Survivors include her devoted sons, John Cabral of Brookfield and Joseph Cabral and his wife Diana of Monroe, her cherished grandchildren, Jesse Cabral of Indiana, Michael Cabral of Newtown and Joseph Cabral, Alek Cabral and Andriana Cabral, all of Monroe, who lovingly referred to her as VoVõ, a brother, Gilberto Martins and his wife Margarida of Bridgeport and a sister, Lidia Tavares and her husband Altino of Vallejo, CA, as well as several beloved nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, September 18, 2023 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 429 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
