Obituary of Michael Y. M. Wong

Michael Y. M. Wong PhD, 84, of Easton Connecticut, beloved husband of Sui Ying Wong, passed away on September 17, 2023 in peace at his home with family and friends by his side.

Michael was born on December 9, 1938 in Hong Kong and immigrated to the United States in aspirations of the American dream. Michael received his undergraduate from NYU followed by a Master’s Degree and a Doctorate in Chemistry from M.I.T. After, he began a successful career at Clairol, a Bristol-Meyers Squibb Company where he patented the formulations behind the successful Nice’n Easy and Natural Instincts hair color product line.

He enjoyed his Sunday papers, endless cups of coffee and the game of tennis. As the Captain of his USTA tennis team he led them to the national tournament which ranked as one of his proudest moments. 

In addition to his loving wife Sui of 54 years he is survived by son Raymond and his wife Amy, with two grandsons Nathan and Evan who were the sunshine in his life. He is also remembered by his younger sister Heline Wong and her husband Peter. He was predeceased by his father Mook Fong Wong, mother Gien Ng and older sister Siu Ying Siu.

Michael’s life will be honored on Saturday September 23, 2023 at Abriola Parkview Funeral Home in Trumbull, CT. Visiting hours for friends and family are from 11 a.m. to 2.p.m.
