Obituary of Anna Loretta Tartaglia

Anna Loretta DeAngelis Tartaglia, age 94, of Monroe, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 in St. Vincents Medical Center surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of 62 years to the late Ersilio Tartaglia. Born in Columbus, OH on September 18, 1929, she was a daughter of the late Cesidio and Floria Maria (Giammarco) DeAngelis.

When Anna was 6 months of age, her parents returned to Introdaqua, Abruzzo, Italy where she was raised, along with her older brother, Emilio, and younger sister, Giuseppina. Anna, and her siblings, sadly lost their mother at a young age. Anna's fondest memories of Introdaqua was being raised by her loving maternal grandparents Nonna Rosetta DiRienzo Giammarco and Nonno Andrea Giammarco.

In 1946, Anna and her siblings returned to the United States to live with their father Cesidio and step-mother Jean in Bridgeport, CT. Anna worked at Commercial Shirt sewing men's dress shirts and shortly after took a job at Rose's Dress Shop where she learned to be an expert seamstress making beautiful dresses. Anna met the love of her life Ersilio, through her brother Emilio and began a courtship which continued until they married on June 3rd, 1950. They started their family and remained in Bridgeport where they raised their four loving children. In 1987, they moved to Monroe to be with to their growing family. Anna was a devout Catholic and a woman of strong faith. Her greatest joy in life was being surrounded her 14 grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren. She loved to spend every moment she could talking, laughing, or playing with them.

Survivors include four loving children, Frank Tartaglia, Sr. and his wife Deborah, Floria Mallozzi and her husband Mario, Linda Smeraglino and her husband Dominic Jr., and Leo Tartaglia and his wife Beverly, all of Monroe; 14 cherished grandchildren, Daniel Tartaglia (Sara), Lisa Rubio (GeanCarlo), Frank Tartaglia, Jr., Andrew Tartaglia (Kristina), Jennifer Mallozzi-PonVert (Antonio), Julie Connors (Richard), Vicki Mallozzi (Michael), Mario Mallozzi Jr. (Rosanna), Dominic Smeraglino III (Kristen), David Smeraglino (Cristina), Marc Smeraglino (Kelsey), Selina Convertito (Michael), Leo Tartaglia Jr. (Jaime) and Dana Tartaglia; and 22 treasured great grandchildren; as well as a sister, Josephine Tartaglia, brother-in-law, Tony Tartaglia, and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother, Emilio DeAngelis.

Friends may greet the family on Friday, November 3, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. at The Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. in St. Jude Church, 707 Monroe Turnpike, Monroe. Entombment will take place in the St Monica Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
