Obituary of Donald A. Vernuccio

Donald A. Vernuccio, age 90, of Stratford, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at Lord Chamberlain, Stratford. Born in Bridgeport on February 9, 1933 he was the son of the late Girolamo and Margaret (Capozzi) Vernuccio. Donald was a proud U.S. Army Veteran having served his country honorably as a cook during the Korean War. He was a longtime member of both the Bridgeport YMCA and Pequonnock Yacht Club, where he built many lasting friendships over the years. Donald was happiest when he was surrounded by his family and friends. A loving and devoted son, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.   

He is survived by his loving sister, Theresa M. Miklus of Shelton, his cherished nieces and nephew, Diane Waldron of Cheshire, John Miklus and his wife Kerry of Novi, MI and Jill Hirsch and her husband Craig of Monroe, his adored great nieces and nephews, Kyle Waldron, Ryan, Skylar and Evan Miklus and Jared and Kaitlyn Hirsch.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, December 12, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may greet the family on Tuesday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
