Obituary of John R. Prevelige
In Loving Memory of a Remarkable Man
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the sudden passing of a beloved friend, a pillar of kindness, and a generous soul, John R. Prevelige, aged 65 of Monroe, CT. He departed from this world unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in Clifton, NJ, and raised in Fairfield, CT. John was a graduate of Andrew Warde High School. He attended Norwalk Community College. John worked in auto repair and was an auto body repairman of renown skill.
John was a man whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him. His departure has left a profound impact as he was a friend to all who crossed his path.
Beyond his kind and generous nature, John was a fascinating individual with a wide range of interests. His knowledge of the architectural details of his childhood home in Fairfield was rivaled only by his knowledge and recall of his extended family members and their family reunions. He was truly the family historian, whose knowledge spanned generations. His home and property brought him great joy. He was an avid gardener who grew championship tomatoes from seed, proudly winning and wearing the Trumbull Tomato Tournament green jacket. He delighted in the wildlife that frequented his yard, sharing photos and stories of their visits. He loved the sport of drag racing and looked forward to his trips to the New England Dragway with friends.
John leaves behind a legacy of friendship, kindness, and the importance of cherishing every moment. He is survived by his wife, Maria Palmieri, son Jason Prevelige (Leanne), stepson Jay Gantz (Sarah), stepdaughters Jessica Melchionne (Danny), Amanda Mintz (Jason) and grandchildren Alexander Prevelige and Lucas Mintz, and Theo Melchionne. Brothers Peter Prevelige (Trish), Christopher Prevelige (Jill), Andrew Prevelige (Slavica), Robert Prevelige (Sarah) and sister Maria Sweet (John) and many nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.
