Obituary of Gildo Nicolia
Gildo Nicolia, age 93, of Monroe, beloved husband of Giuseppina Incitti Nicolia, passed away peacefully on Monday, December 11, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 6, 1930 in Torrice, a Province of Frosinone Italy, he was the son of the late Tomasso and Anna Marini Nicolia. A member of the Italian Army, Gildo immigrated to the United States in 1954. Soon after he would join the Laborers Union and go on to work for many area construction companies, notably Arduini Construction and Frouge Construction. While at Frouge, he was very proud to have been a part of the construction of the Trumbull Mall and many other major projects.
He enjoyed making wine, gardening and loved to watch soccer. He was the life of the party, always entertaining family and friends with his accordion. Above all things he was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. Gildo always put the needs of his family before his own. The unconditional love he gave and values that he instilled will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him. He will be deeply missed by all.
In addition to his beloved wife of 69 years, Giuseppina, survivors include his four loving children, Mary Lisi and her husband Angelo of Monroe, JoAnn Dorsey and her husband Randi of Wallingford, Sando Nicolia and his wife Maria of Monroe and Gina Turner and her husband Van of Stratford, seven cherished grandchildren, Stephanie Puntel and her husband Rob, Thomas Lisi and his wife Laura, Nicole Dorsey, Kristen Nicolia, Christopher Nicolia, Van Turner and Kayla Turner, two adored great grandchildren, Stevie and Guiliana, sister-in-law, Filomena Nicolia, as well as several nieces, nephews, and brothers and sisters-in-law. He was predeceased by his brother Dominic Nicolia.
