Obituary of Amadeu Alves Fernandes

Amadeu Alves Fernandes, age 84, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Laurinda Teixeira Fernandes, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 1, 2024 surrounded by his loving family.

Born on August 21, 1939, in Solveira, Portugal, he was a son of the late Antonio Fernandes and Ana Alves Clemente. Amadeu was a member of the Vasco da Gama Club for over 50 years and was a retired employee of the WPCA. A hard-working man, he was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He enjoyed time with his family and the values he taught will always remain in their hearts.

Survivors include two loving children, a son, Tony Fernandes and his wife Liz of Trumbull, a daughter, Chris Garcia and her husband Elvin of Trumbull, a step son, Fernando Teixeira, six cherished grandchildren, Nelson, Kris, Mark, Erika, Adolfo and Jonathan, two adored great grandchildren, Karter and Ny'Lani as well as several nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday, April 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in the Pilgrimage Mausoleum in Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday morning from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
