Obituary of Angelo A. Cocco

Angelo A. Cocco, age 82, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Friday, March 29, 2024 at his home. Born in Bridgeport on June 30, 1941 he was the son of the late Anthony and Helen (Vitale) Cocco. Angelo was a very intelligent man who imparted his wisdom on others as a teacher in the New Canaan Public School System and also as a Professor at the University of Bridgeport for many years before his retirement. He was also a very religious man and practiced his faith as a longtime dedicated parishioner of St. Margaret Shrine in Bridgeport, where he built many friendships over the years by serving on various committees and volunteering for their numerous events. Angelo enjoyed many things, but serving the Lord came first. Angelo had a passion for music with Frank Sinatra being his all time favorite. Angelo was a fan of the New York Yankees and UConn Huskies and looked forward to his frequent trips to the casino. Angelo's greatest pleasures, however, included going to lunch every week with the boys and spending time with his friends and family, who he loved madly. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Survivors include his three devoted cousins, C. Loretta Marinaccio and her husband Leonard of West Haven, Evelyn Thayer and her late husband Michael of South Windsor and Mario Cocco and his wife Victoria of Marlborough, his very dear friend Gloria of Fairfield, as well as several additional devoted second cousins. Angelo is also survived by the entire Piccirillo family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at 10:00 am in St. Margaret Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Friends may greet the family on Saturday morning at the church prior to mass beginning at 9:00 am.
