Obituary of Eugenio Maini
Eugenio Maini, age 83, of Shelton passed away suddenly on Monday, April 15, 2024 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. He was the beloved husband of 58 years to Nicolina (Belli) Maini. Born in Strangolagalli, Province of Frosinone Italy, he was a son of the late Benedetto and Catarina Maini and was a longtime resident of Shelton and Trumbull.
Eugenio enjoyed spending time with his family, visiting and hosting friends at his house including attending events at the Italian Club in Bridgeport. His favorite pass time was playing cards and taking care of his vegetable garden. He also enjoyed raising chickens. Making wine was his passion and he took great pride teaching his grandchildren how to make it and sharing his "grape juice" with his friends and family. Eugenio shared his Italian heritage with the family from jarring tomatoes to making home-made sausage. He was very proud to be an American/ Italian and would frequently shout out "God Bless America!"
In addition to his beloved wife Nicolina, survivors include two loving sons, Ben Maini and his wife Anne Marie and Bruno Maini, a brother Guido Maini and his wife Maria and five cherished grandchildren, Joseph, Nicholas, Sara, Taylor and Mason as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his four sisters, Elvira Lombardi, Giovanna Antoniani, Domenica DeVellis and Gina Fratarcangeli.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. directly in St. Lawrence Church, 505 Shelton Ave., Shelton. Entombment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull.
