Obituary of John N. Mariani
John N. Mariani, age 90, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of the late Vincenza Perciballi Mariani, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 24, 2024 at Bridgeport Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Born in Ripi, Frosinone, Italy on May 13, 1934, he was a son of the late Niccolo Mariani and Lydia Cerri. John immigrated to the U.S. in 1958, settling in Bridgeport.
A hard-working man, John was a long-time member of the Laborers Union Local 665 and worked for many area construction companies. He was a member of the Circolo Sportivo Italian American Club; where he enjoyed spending time with his friends talking of the day's past. John loved the outdoors and was an avid fisherman; went clamming with family and friends and was proud of his garden. Proud of his Italian heritage, he told stories to his grandchildren and great grandchildren, cooked traditional Italian foods for his family and was famous for his Italian sausage and homemade wine, made for all to enjoy.
But above all, he was a husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather who cared deeply for his family. The unconditional love he gave and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Vincenza M. Mariani. Survivors include his two loving children, Rose Micanovic and her husband William of Shelton, and John Mariani Jr. and his wife Nisi of Bridgeport, four cherished grandchildren, Nicholas Micanovic and Desiree, Sara Widomski and her husband Scott, Kamie Merithew and her husband Mike and Brianna Natale and her husband Matthew, 11 cherished Great Grandchildren, Evan, Giovanni, Alivia, William, Gavin, Lillian, Camden, Grayson, Lincoln, Jaxson and Wyatt, a great great granddaughter, Bella, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Margaret's Shrine, 2523 Park Ave., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4 – 7 pm in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull. To leave an online condolence please visit ww.abriola.com.
