Obituary of Assundina Veneruso

Assundina "Susie" Veneruso, age 92, of Stratford, passed away on Sunday, July 14, 2024 at her home. She was the beloved wife of 43 years to the late Anthony Veneruso. Born in Te Ano Caserta, Italy on November 1, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Antonio and Evalina Maria (Gildone) Grieco and was a longtime resident of Stratford.

Assundina came to the United States in 1960 to marry the love of her life Anthony and begin their family. She was an amazing cook and baker and loved cooking for her family and friends. No one left her home after a visit with an empty stomach. She loved her family very much and was always willing to help in any way possible. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include two loving daughters, Anna Marie Gallo and Rita Valentino, a sister-in-law, Carmella Petrucciano, six devoted grandchildren, David Gallo, Amanda Garcia and her husband David, Frankie Gallo, John, Anthony and Joseph Valentino and two cherished great grandsons, Noah and Levi as well as numerous nieces and nephews in the U.S. and Italy. She was predeceased by brothers, Paride, Armando, Giuseppe, Orlando, Cosimo and Alesandro Grieco, two sisters, Anna Nerone and Antionetta Diana and two brothers-in-law, Ernest Petrucciano and Ciro Veneruso.

All are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. meet directly in Holy Name of Jesus Church, 1950 Barnum Ave., Stratford. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 P.M. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
