Obituary of Antonio Flores Teixeira
Antonio Flores Teixeira, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved husband of Maria Jorge Teixeira, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 3, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Born on October 20, 1934 in Pedrario, Montalegre, Portugal, he was a son of Antonio and Maria Flores Teixeira.
A member of the Portuguese Army, he immigrated to the United States in 1978 and settled in Bridgeport. Antonio was a retired employee of Mark IV Construction and was a member of the Laborers Union 146. He was also member of the Vasco da Gama Portuguese Club, where he enjoyed spending time with his friends and watching his beloved soccer team, Benfica F.C.
Above all he was a hard-working man and always provided the best for his family. He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Proud of his Portuguese heritage, he shared many stories with his family every Sunday, when all gathered for the weekly traditional family dinner. The unconditional love he gave and the values he taught will forever live in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his beloved wife of 65 years, Maria, survivors include his loving children, Lourdes Jardim, Antonio Teixeira, Julia Reis and her husband Paul, Grace Rodriguez, Laura Gniadek and her husband Ron, Maria Teixeira, Tino Teixeira, Susana Teixeira and Melissa Kerestury and her husband Jason, 16 cherished grandchildren, Alexis, Randy, Julia, Sean, Monica, Matthew, Taylor, Sydney, Jake, Jeremy, Shayna, Andrew, Nicole, Ava, Skye and Jason Jr., an adored great grandson, Xavier, as well as several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son Alberto E. Teixeira and a grandson, Anthony Michael Teixeira and his brothers and sisters, Joaquim, Albino, Laura and Olimpia.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. in Our Lady of Fatima Church, 465 Huntington Rd., Bridgeport. Interment will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Monday from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull.
