Obituary of Anthony Patsy Gallo

Anthony Patsy Gallo, 81, of Stratford, passed away peacefully at home on August 22, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was the cherished husband of Donna Pellegrino Gallo. Born on January 10, 1943, in Bridgeport, Tony was the son of the late Carmella Elizabeth Gallo and Donald Meehan.

A proud U.S. Army veteran, Tony served overseas in Italy and Germany from 1964 to 1966. After his service, he met his soulmate Donna and they were married in 1968, spending 57 beautiful years together. Tony enjoyed a fulfilling career as a machinist at McMellon Bros. Inc., from which he later retired.

Tony was deeply loved as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He was an avid sailor throughout his lifetime and became a mentor to many at The Housatonic Boat Club. He had a profound respect for nature and the ocean, always happiest sailing in his red sailboat on Thursday nights, appropriately named Kemosabe, meaning "faithful friend" as he was a friend to so many. His passion for sailing and the sea will be remembered fondly by all who knew him and those who were lucky enough to sail with him.

An accomplished artist, Tony's extensive collection of watercolors, acrylics, and sketches reflects his love for sailboats, ships, lighthouses, beaches, and beloved dogs including his cherished German Shepards Anastasia, Natasha, Bailey and Bella. He was inspired often by the beauty of Cape Cod, where he vacationed with his family for over 20 years. His artwork is a testament to his inner spirit and unique perspective on the world, which will continue to live on in his work.

Tony's greatest joy was his family. His fierce determination to fight and stay with his loved ones for as long as possible was a testament to his deep love. Family dinners, particularly those featuring clams and linguini or holiday favorites including Italian Wedding soup or Donna's renowned "seven fishes" Christmas dinners were among his most treasured moments. Tony's legacy of love, artistry, and dedication to family will continue to inspire and be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

In addition to his beloved wife, Donna, survivors include his three loving sons, Jeffery Gallo and his wife Maryjo of Orange, Mark Gallo and his wife Elizabeth of Redding and Brian Gallo and his wife Carrie of Monroe, six cherished and adored grandchildren, Sarah, David, Ashlyn, Jeffery, Logan and Emily, six step grandchildren, David, Marie, Fiona, Sinead, Ava and Anthony, as well as several cousins and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, September 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Mark's Church, 500 Wigwam Lane, Stratford. Interment with military honors will follow in Long Hill Burial Grounds, Trumbull. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Friday, September 13, 2024 from 9 - 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
