Obituary of Salvatore Guerrera

Salvatore Guerrera, age 77, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, August 28, 2024 surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Pasqualina (Mancini) Guerrera. Born in Pontelandolfo, province of Benevento, Italy on September 16, 1946, he was the son of the late Antonio and Anna Guerrera. Mr. Guerrera came to the United States at the age of 9 and attended local schools before earning his Bachelor's Degree from Sacred Heart University. Sal was quite gifted in working with numbers and that talent led to a 30 plus year career as a supervisor in the accounting department with the Southern CT Gas Company. That work career was cut short when he needed to retire at an early age to care for his mother during her illness. His love of numbers and ability to work as a human calculator, carried over to his passion and interest in everything stock market related, which he followed religiously. He was an avid sports fan and supporter of the New York Yankees. His love for baseball was instilled in his sons at an early age by attending all of their games and playing catch with them. A loving and devoted husband, father, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. In addition to his beloved wife Pasqualina of nearly 54 years, other survivors include his devoted sons, Thomas and Steven Guerrera. He is also survived by many sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 5, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Andrew Church, 435 Anton St., Bridgeport. Entombment will follow in the Chapel Mausoleum of Mountain Grove Cemetery, Bridgeport.
