Obituary of Franklin J. Tuchols Jr.
Franklin J. Tuchols Jr., aged 79, of Bridgeport, passed away on Friday, September 13, 2024 at Yale New Haven Healthcare, St. Raphael Campus with his family at his side. He was the beloved husband of Robert Valle. Born in Buffalo, New York on August 28, 1945. He was the son of the late Franklin J. Tuchols and Florence (Degen) Tuchols.
Frank was active in the Catholic church from an early age attending the Minor Seminary in Buffalo and then St John Vianney Seminary in East Aurora. He was ordained a Catholic Priest in 1971. He continued his studies at Catholic University in Washington, DC where he earned a master's degree in Theology and later also earned a master's of Social Work at University of Buffalo. He served as the Chaplan at Buffalo Children's Hospital's Neonatal ICU. In addition, he served as a weekend assistant at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Buffalo. He loyally served the community as a Catholic priest for 25 years. He then continued his career as a social worker in Connecticut in family reunification program for Casey Family Services and then with Hospice of Branford. His calling to serve continued when he was received into Episcopal Church and later his orders were recognized and he served as an episcopal priest in Norwalk and Waterbury until his retirement.
Frank loved traveling to NYC enjoying the art galleries, the food and, of course, wine. At home, he was a wine connoisseur and was one hell of a cook himself! He spent countless hours tending his gardens and was an avid sports fan. Being from New York he was a diehard New York Yankees and Buffalo Bills fan, but his greatest joy came from spending time with Robert, his family and especially his dog, Charlie.
In addition to his beloved husband Robert of 27 years, he is survived by his brother John E. Tuchols and his wife Carol, a sister, Marylou Tuchols and her husband Gregory Andrews. Nieces and nephews, Kristen Abate and her husband, Michael, Eric Tuchols and his wife Angela, Jason Andrews and his wife Sarah, Christian Charter and his wife Kristin, James Charter and his wife Abby and Ryan Andrews and his wife Allison as well as many great nieces and grand nephews.
A Celebration of Frank's life will take place at St. Paul's on The Green, 60 East Ave., Norwalk, CT on October 12, 2024 at 1pm followed by a gathering of friends and family to be announced.
