Obituary of Rodney S. Gray

Rodney S. Gray, age 84, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 17, 2024 at Milford Hospital surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Godbout) Gray. Born in Bridgeport on October 2, 1939 he was a son of the late Wesley and Louise (Langenstein) Gray. Rodney had worked as a plumber for the City of Bridgeport Board of Education with over 37 years of dedicated service before his retirement. He was a proud member of the Plumbers Local Union 777 with an affiliation of over 50 years and having built many friendships over those years. He was an avid fisherman and also enjoyed walking and running. Rodney was very gifted in terms of his ability to fix or repair nearly anything, from carpentry to plumbing, he could tackle any project. His greatest enjoyment however was found in the time he spent surrounded by his family, especially his grandchildren, whom he adored. A loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

In addition to his beloved wife Carolyn of 64 years, other survivors include his devoted sons, Jeffrey J. Gray and his wife Helen of Stratford, David C. Gray and his wife Barbara of Milford and Gary S. Gray and his wife Catherine of Sandy Hook, his cherished grandchildren, Ashley Gray, Matthew Gray and his wife Alexa Miller, David Gray, Danielle Gray, Ryan Gray, Justin Gray, and Kevin Gray, his adored great grandson, Alexander James Gray, his brother, Wesley P. Gray and his wife Nancy of Trumbull, as well as several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery South, Huntington. Friends may greet the family from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at the funeral home.
