Obituary of Amelia A. Schmedlin
Amelia A. Maiocco Schmedlin, age 98, of Fairfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 19, 2024 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert Schmedlin. Born in Fairfield on April 26, 1926, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Mary (Grassi) Maiocco and was a life long resident of Fairfield.
Before her retirement at the age of 80, she was an office manager at Panish Controls in Bridgeport. Amelia's life revolved around cooking and caring for her family. She enjoyed the weekly Sunday dinners around the table with her homemade sauce and pasta. She will be remembered as a devoted mother and grandmother and will be missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her two loving daughters, Patricia King and Barbara Llewellyn and her husband John, three beloved granddaughters, Beth Spektor, Adrienne Hamilton (Dan) and Meghan Loew (Trevor) and six cherished great grandchildren, Leonardo & Wesley Spektor, Jackson & Leah Loew and Jonah and Adeline Hamilton as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by brothers, Nicholas and Louis Maiocco a son-in-law, John Tyson King III and her longtime companion Bill Pancak.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, September 25, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Margaret Mary Church, 50 Donovan Lane, Shelton, Interment will follow in St. Michael Cemetery, Stratford. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday morning from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
