Obituary of William A. Wakeman
William A. Wakeman, age 84 of Trumbull and beloved Husband of Lydia Wakeman, passed away peacefully on October 10th 2024 at Cambridge Manor. Born on February, 5th 1940 in Bridgeport, he was the son of the late Sanford Wakeman and Grace Dowlin. After graduating from Ludlow High School, he went on to a machinist for Jelliff Manufacturing in Southport. In his younger days, William developed a love of the outdoors and could be found skiing. In William there was a true artistry and a strong creative soul. From oil painting to woodcarving instruments, furniture, a grandfather clock, his extremely talented skills helped create many awe-inspiring creations. William was the proud owner of Sunnybrook Landscaping where his creative visions and attention to detail masterminded beautiful gardens for 40 years. The only thing that he loved more was his family.
He is survived by his cherished daughter Meredith L. Tomas and her husband Richard of Stratford, his adored granddaughter Shannon M. Tomas. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Barbara Wendell and nephew Edward Hungerford of Stratford. He is predeceased by his wife of 54 years Lydia Wakeman.
