Obituary of Harold "John" DeLorme

Harold “John” DeLorme, age 88, of Bridgeport passed away peacefully on Thursday, November 7, 2024 at St. Joseph Center, Trumbull. Born in Bridgeport on June 7, 1936 he was the son of the late Harold C. and Lena L. (Stowe) DeLorme. Mr. DeLorme was a proud veteran of the U.S. Army. He had earned his bachelor’s degree from Tufts University and later obtained his master’s degree from the University of Bridgeport. He then began a long career that spanned 33 years in the Bridgeport Public School System as a math teacher for 7th and 8th graders at the Blackham School, where he touched the lives of many individuals. Golf was his passion and he was a longtime member at Fairchild Wheeler Golf Course where he built many friendships with others that had a similar interest. John’s love for the opera and classical music was evident anytime you entered his home because it would be playing in the background. He was a man of great faith and often considered the members of Long Hill United Methodist Church, where he belonged, as his extended family. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived by his devoted sister, Darlene Hall of Bridgeport and Florida, his cherished niece and nephews, Jeffrey Hall and his wife Eileen of Bethlehem, PA, Christopher Hall and his companion Kimberly Miconi of West Haven and Kimberly O’Meara and her husband Kevin of St. Augustine, FL, his great niece and nephew, Ryan and Mackenzie Hall, as well as several cousins.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, November 15, 2024 at 10:00 a.m. in Long Hill United Methodist Church, 6358 Main St., Trumbull. Interment will follow in Park Cemetery, Bridgeport. Friends may greet the family on Thursday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
