Obituary of Michael A. Marella
U. S. Army Veteran
Michael Angelo Marella, age 71, of Trumbull, passed away peacefully and with dignity at Lord Chamberlain Health Care on Wednesday, April 22, 2009. He was the devoted husband of 49 years to Irene (Grosko) Marella and greatly beloved father of two daughters, Cindy Marconi and her husband Robert B. of Trumbull and Vicky Marella of Wilton, two precious granddaughters Alyssa and Amanda Marconi, who brought a great deal of joy to him and a brother Thomas Marella and his wife Judi of Trumbull. He was the brother-in-law to Ann Honek, Marge Baluch and her husband Vincent, Mary Jordhamo and the late Helen Wuerth and an uncle to many nieces and nephews. Michael was born on April 5, 1938 in Bridgeport, CT to the late Michael Marella and Mary Mennillo. He was pre-deceased by his beloved sister, Rosemary Mucherino and her husband Pasquale. Michael graduated from Central High School in Bridgeport in 1957, and then served his country as a Sergeant in the U. S. Army. He was honorably discharged in 1963. He worked at Sikorsky Aircraft before pursuing a career as a computer technician at Unisys and Peoples Bank until he retired. Michael was a dedicated parishioner of St. Theresa Roman Catholic Church and faithfully performed duties as an usher. Mikey (as he was known to his many friends) was an avid sports fan and especially loved the Womens UCONN Huskies. He enjoyed spending time with his buddies, playing pool, cards or going bowling. Michael had a great love of birds and animals, and especially his pets Tippy and Emmy. Michael was a gentle soul with a great sense of humor and was always willing to help others. The family will receive friends at the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull on Monday, April 27, 2009 from 4-7 p.m. A Memorial Mass celebrating his life will take place on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at 9:00 a.m. directly in St. Theresa Church, 5301 Main St., Trumbull. Inurnment with military honors will follow in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Trumbull. Donations Information
