Obituary of William N. Mazzadra

Former Stratford Resident William N. Mazzadra, age 99, formerly of Stratford, peacefully entered into rest on Wednesday, May 2nd, at Griffin Hospital, Derby, CT. He slipped away into Gods arms peacefully with his loving family by his side. His earthly fight is over, his heavenly battle won. Mr. Mazzadra was the devoted husband of the late Helen DeBiase Mazzadra. Born in Hartford, CT, on Christmas Eve, December 24, 1907, he was the son of the late Anthony and Corina Zega Mazzadra. He was one of eight children and known for his lovable, outgoing personality and an unmatched enthusiasm and zest for life. At the early age of 7 yrs. old, he was already demonstrating his marketing ability when he would visit surrounding neighborhood homes selling hand-crafted items made by his sisters. He was introduced to his lovely wife Helen by a family friend at a Christening where he was playing the violin. They were married on April 19, 1928 and enjoyed 58 wonderful years of marriage, and, together, they helped run Helens fathers grocery store, Carlos Groceries in Stratford. He and his wife Helen loved to dance and won many dance competitions during the early years of their marriage. In later years, his children and grandchildren enjoyed seeing William demonstrate his winning Charleston dance steps. Education and the continual process of learning were very important to him and he had a never-ending thirst for knowledge, continuing to study and learn well into his 80s when he bought and became proficient at his first computer. His pursuit of higher education earned him degrees in both Law and Finance. On August 30, 1937, he realized one of his dreams, that of a Law Degree, when he graduated from LaSalle University in American Law and Procedure. He also graduated from the American Academy of Accounting in December of 1942, and in September of 1955, he graduated from the Institute of Mentalphysics of Los Angeles, California. He was also a knowledgeable bible scholar, a member of the Rosicrucian Fellowship, as well as an accomplished musician who began playing the violin as a young boy and, in later years, also mastered the mandolin. William managed several theaters, including the Art Cinema and Colonial Theaters, from 1940-1951, where he developed unique live talent shows for the areas aspiring entertainers. His innovative approach also brought the Gilbert and Sullivan Operettas to the Black Rock Theatre to the delight of the regions residents. He was employed in the Accounting and Cost Proposal Division of Avco Lycoming/Textron from 1951-1970, did Accounting and Payroll Consulting from 1971-1974, was a Tax Consultant from 1940-1988, as well as working with marketing specialties. Because of Williams great compassion for human suffering, he was inspired to write the book THE HARD ROAD TO PEACE, published in 1965 by Carlton Press, in which he puts forth an uncomplicated theory for world harmony. It is just as timely today as it was then, perhaps even more so. His most recent book is entitled THE VOICE OF GWENGALI, An Experiment in Reincarnation. He also wrote THE ZODIAC AND YOU, a complete set of individual books for each astrological sign, making a personal appearance at a book signing at the Metaphysical Center in Watertown, CT to introduce this series. His fascination with the unknown led him to research and publish the UFO MYSTERY EXPLORED, as well as conducting extensive research and documentation on the mysteries of the pyramids. A prolific writer, he also authored many newspaper articles, including a series which appeared locally for several weeks in THE STRATFORD BARD in 1990, entitled THE UFO MYSTERY SOLVED! He was a member of the Holy Name of Jesus Church in Stratford and a dedicated American Red Cross Volunteer. He was a devoted and loving father and is survived by his two beloved and adoring daughters, Barbara Sirois, and her husband Howard of Shelton, and Margo Scott and her husband William of Northfield; his sister Dorothy Stein of Bridgeport; two loving grand-daughters, Shelley Geriak of Seymour, and Cathy DelVecchio, and her husband Kevin of Naugatuck; four great granddaughters, Ashley DelVecchio of Naugatuck, Jill Geriak of Seymour, Allison Scott of Orlando, Florida, Corrine Scott of Jenson Beach, Florida; two great grandsons, Antonio DelVecchio of Naugatuck and Keith Geriak of New Haven; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his beloved grandson, William (Billy) Scott, III, four brothers, Al, Frank, Louis and John Mazzadra, and two sisters, Rose Bacchiocchi and Lena Giliotti. An inspiration to all who knew him, he was a true gentleman, kind, caring and compassionate, and so very loved and admired by his family. His shining light will be greatly missed and forever treasured. A father holds his childs hand for just a little while, but their hearts for all eternity. Funeral Information Funeral services will take place on Monday, May 7, 2007 at 9:00 a.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Road, Trumbull, and at 10:00 a.m. in Holy Name of Jesus Church, for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Michaels Cemetery, Stratford. Friends may call on Sunday from 3 to 7 p.m.
