Obituary of Josephine Rita Metzger

Bridgeport Resident Josephine "Josie" Rita (Swatko) Metzger, age 89, of Bridgeport, beloved wife of the late Christian William Metzger, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2007 at St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport. Born in Philadelphia, PA on September 24, 1917 she was the daughter of the late Karole and Mary Swatko. She was a beloved sister, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Mrs. Metzger, or "Josie" as most knew her, served as the President of the Resident's Association at Northbridge Heathcare Center. Mrs. Metzger is survived by her loving daughter, Josephine Garrett and her husband, William, of Bridgeport; devoted son, Christian Metzger of Springfield, OR; cherished granddaughter, Kimberly Reilly and her husband Stephen; her most beloved great-grandaughter, Mackenzie Minor; as well as a host of other family. She will be laid to rest with her husband, Christian, during a private burial in Calvary Cemetery in Patterson, NJ. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Funeral Information Friends and family are invited to attend a Memorial Mass on Tuesday, June 12, 2007 at 4pm at Saint Augustine Cathedral, 359 Washington Avenue, Bridgeport, followed by a gathering at the family's home at 520 Savoy Street, Bridgeport.
