Obituary of Richard Van Tine
Richard Van Tine, age 53, of Shelton passed away peacefully on Friday, January 14, 2022 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Elizabeth (Kecko) Van Tine. Born in Bridgeport on February 1, 1968, he was the son of the late Richard Van Tine and Sadie (Busa) Van Tine.
A proud U.S. Marine Corp veteran having served honorably during the Gulf War, Richard dedicated his life to service and law enforcement as a CT State Trooper for 25 years and then most recently as a police officer for the city of Shelton. He enjoyed automobile restoration and was extremely proud of his 1928 Model A and 1956 Oldsmobile that were his pride and joy. He was also a motorcycle enthusiast but his greatest enjoyment was found in the time he spent with his two sons, who were his everything. Richard put his family first and was a devoted and loving husband, father, uncle and friend of many. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his mother and beloved wife Elizabeth of 23 years, other survivors include his loving sons, Benjamin and Alex, his aunt, Laurene Van Tine of New York, his sister-in-law, Leslie Beard and his niece, Emily Orama and her husband Hiram of Shelton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 21, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 220 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment with full military honors will follow in Huntington Lawn Cemetery South, Shelton.
