Obituary of Richard T. Cannone
Richard T. Cannone, age 77, beloved husband of Susan Ziniak Cannone of Bridgeport, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, February 1, 2023 at St. Vincent's Medical Center. Born in Bridgeport on November 27, 1945, he was a son of the late James and Sally (Mead) Cannone and was a lifelong Bridgeport resident.
Richard was a United States Marine Corp Veteran and proudly served his country from 1963 – 1969. As a lifelong animal lover, he became a zookeeper at Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, which he worked at for over 35 years until his retirement. He enjoyed lifting weights, watching his TV shows, and playing the slots at the casino.
He was devoted to his family, especially his wife Susan of 52 years and his three sons: Brian Cannone and his wife Donna of Bridgeport; Richard Cannone and his wife Susana of Monroe; and Bret Cannone of Bridgeport. He was the cherished grandfather of Ryan and Justin Cannone, and Evan and Lilah Cannone. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Cannone and a sister, Michele Cannone.
Friends may greet the family on Wednesday, February 8, 2023 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull followed by a Funeral Service at 12:00 p.m in the funeral home. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow the service at St. Michael Cemetery, 2205 Stratford Ave., Stratford.
