Obituary of Richard J. Ranocchia

Richard J. Ranocchia, age 77, of Trumbull, beloved husband of Cheryl Chambers Ranocchia, passed away peacefully on Friday, May 10, 2024 with his loving family by his side. Born in Scranton, Pennsylvania on February 3, 1947, he was a son of the late Joseph and Antoinette Avellino Ranocchia.

Richard held a deep love and affection for his wife Cheryl. The two had met in 1967 and together would enjoy the days of getting dressed up in their best, heading to NYC for fancy dinners and seeing their favorite Motown Artists. The two could be found racing down competition in his coveted 1967 Golden Metallic Pontiac GTO. Richard's love and co-pilot Cheryl would white knuckle the safety handles holding tight as they flew down the road in excitement, crossing the finish line; it was inevitable the two would tie the knot. Richard & Cheryl celebrated over 54 years of marriage and in this time the grace of God has blessed them with 4 children, 8 grandchildren a beautiful home, countless laughs, some tears, immense love, and great memories of a life well lived together.

Richard was a living testament to the enduring values that shape an individual's character. His great love for his family taught his children lessons of integrity, high moral responsibility, and compassion for others. Richard was from a generation of old school thought and always stayed true to the principle of the "Golden Rule" do unto others as you would have them do unto you. This type of ideology was the bridge between worlds where he was respected by many of his peers, family, and friends. Always soft spoken; his thoughts were calculated with wisdom that was the cornerstone of his existence.

He was employed by United Properties for over 40 years serving as a construction project manager. He affectionately described the owners as "The Guys" when speaking on behalf of ongoing projects. His reputation in the industry was unparalleled to his competition as he had the knowledge to bring tradesman into the fold to create buildings in an expedited and efficient manner. His self- proclaimed humored title of "The Wizard" had earned him the respect of the individuals in his industry. His words were his bond, and his handshake sealed promises that led to high levels of trust and fairness. Through these principles he created a loyal following of inevitable friendships that would last in some cases over 50+ years.

The time he spent with his family & friends was his biggest love of life. He would enjoy his time with his closest friends conversing at lunch about humorous aspects of solving the world's problems or creating them. He was very close to his children Michael, Daniel, Gina and Lisa. His heart for them was enormous and would always do what was needed to ensure their happiness came before his own. His children were the sparkle in his eye and loved to be associated with their friends who shared affection and respect for him. At friendly gatherings Richie, as he is called, could be seen sitting off to a private area where individuals would congregate with him for conversation, advice, and laughter. It was comedically known that Richie doesn't come to you, you go to Richie. This ideal lead to his legendary persona that resembled the Ora of the "Godfather" that created his footprint of love, honor, and respect by many.

Richard is one of the Last of the Mohegans and although he is gone, his memory and legacy will be seared into the hearts and minds of so many that have shared love and admiration for him.

He will be greatly missed. Until we see you again in the kingdom of Heaven

In addition to his beloved wife of 54 years, Cheryl, survivors include his three loving children, Michael Ranocchia and his wife Nicole, Daniel Ranocchia and his wife Danielle and Lisa Ranocchia Munster and her husband Juan, son-in-law, Michael Montanaro, eight cherished grandchildren, Gianna and Giancarlo Montanaro, Talia, Alyssa, Joseph and James Ranocchia and Benicio and Sienna Munster, his mother-in-law, Lillian Atcherson, brothers and sister-in-law, Chuck Chambers, Gail Zuber and Dean Chambers, as well as several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a daughter Gina Montanaro, his sister Ann Marie Smolka and his beloved brother in law Walter Smoka along with his father-in-law Chester Chambers Sr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 11:00 am directly in St. Catherine of Siena Church, 200 Shelton Rd., Trumbull. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family. Relatives and friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4 – 7 p.m. in the Abriola Parkview Funeral Home, 419 White Plains Rd., Trumbull.
